Hardware, protocol and software. Together.

02 / CONFIGURATION

ECU & hardware revision

Confirm the full ECU label, hardware generation and firmware. Use the connection instructions that apply to that version.

03 / CONFIGURATION

Port, voltage & protocol

Identify the physical port, pin assignment, electrical level and communication protocol. USB or a nine-pin connector does not establish compatibility.

04 / CONFIGURATION

Software & driver

Record the tuning-software release, driver and computer OS. Confirm their support together; a historical Windows reference does not establish current compatibility.

05 / CONFIGURATION

Your existing connection

List cables, adapters, interface hardware and installed drivers. Describe any error message and the last working configuration, so missing hardware can be distinguished from a software issue.

Review checklist

  • Record the complete ECU generation and exact software release rather than only the product family.
  • Check connector, voltage level, protocol and driver as separate compatibility requirements.
  • Keep a configuration backup and report the precise error before replacing hardware.
